The Fog Series

The Fog series was born the Winter of 2014. I had painted boldly for sometime and my mood had softened. It was our first Winter in the Bay Area and my first experience of fog. I went within and withdrew from outside influences, painting only for myself and the release it provided.  I regained an innocence.

Letting go of self judgement I leapt into multiple disciplines and used muted color in veils, scraping and layering, revealing and concealing, much the way fog does.

I have introduced painting with my fingers as equally as my other tools. There are palette knife strokes, brush marks and glazing along with drawing and mark making using oil and pastel on the canvas. There is a strong yet gentle power in these works. In them, I feel breath.
